Course Description

  • How can you create a safer, more supportive school environment for every student? In this course, you'll gain the knowledge and tools to identify, differentiate, and address bullying using evidence-based strategies tailored for teachers, administrators, and mental health professionals. You'll learn to define bullying, recognize its many forms, and understand its profound impact on students and school climate—all while applying Colorado's legal framework. Through clear explanations and actionable insights, you'll be empowered to foster a culture of safety and wellbeing in your school community.
  • This is Part 1 of a 2-part course on bullying prevention. Please take this course before completing Bullying Prevention Part 2. The estimated time to complete this course is 60 minutes.

Course Outcomes

  • 1. Define and Identify Bullying: Apply three core criteria – intentional harm, power imbalance, and repetition – to accurately distinguish bullying from general peer conflict and harassment.  
  • 2. Recognize Multidimensional Manifestations: Detect nuances of physical, verbal, relational, and cyberbullying, including subtle behaviors like social manipulation and digital exclusion. 
  • 3. Evaluate Systemic Impact: Analyze how bullying affects the academic performance, mental health, and physical well-being of targets, aggressors, and the broader school community.
