Course Description

• The Architecture of Behavior is a welcoming introductory course that helps school staff understand how severe stress and trauma shape a child's actions. Instead of trying to make kids behave through strict rules and punishments, you will learn to see difficult behavior as a body's natural reaction to feeling overwhelmed or unsafe. By the end of this class, you will know how to create a calm, supportive space and write clear, practical learning plans that truly help students feel secure. 

Objectives:

1. 1. Learn how to recognize when a student's challenging behavior is actually a natural body reaction to stress or fear, rather than a deliberate choice to misbehave.

   2. Learn practical de-escalating techniques, calming communication strategies, and ways to reinforce predictable daily routines that help overwhelmed students feel secure and ready to learn.
