Course Description

  • This course is designed to support teachers learning how to compact math curriculum for advanced learners. It is intended to be used during a whole school roll-out and supported by the school's Gifted Education Facilitator.

Target Audience

  • Teachers in year one of math compacting roll out at their school.
  • Open to Substitute Teachers = Not at this time
  • Open to Student Teachers = Not at this time
  • Open to Charter School Staff = Not at this time
    • Charter Certified or Classified

Outcomes

Here are the outcomes for the course (what participants will walk away with from the course).

  • Teachers will learn best practices for supporting advanced and gifted learners, particularly in the area of math.
  • Teachers will learn how to use data to make instructional decisions to meet the needs of learners, with a focus on compacting math curriculum.
  • Teachers will learn how to include most rigorous tasks and weave in above grade level material to create a deeper learning experience for advanced learners.
