Course Description
- The Section 504 Essentials for Schools training is for all school staff. It is designed to be presented by each building's 504 coordinator(s) and their administrator. Its intent is to deepen the participants' understanding of Section 504 and empower them in their role to support students. In this session, the presenters will clarify the core principles of Section 504 as a civil rights law, explore eligibility essentials, and align their practices to ensure all students have equitable access to education. The training will also provide practical strategies for implementing accommodations and address common myths about 504 plans. Participation in this course will help staff provide valuable insight during 504 team meetings and effectively support students with accommodations. This training promotes student growth in their cognitive, physical, social, and emotional needs.
