Course Description
- This course equips school 504 Coordinators and 504 Leads with the foundational knowledge and technical skills necessary for compliance and student support. Participants will dive deep into Section 504 law, including disability definitions and eligibility criteria, while becoming familiar with the Project Education platform for the DCSD 504 process. The curriculum also examines critical intersections with student discipline, twice-exceptionality (2e), attendance, and the IMTSS framework. One time completion of this course is necessary to fulfill the 504 Coordinator or 504 Lead role.

Course Outcomes
By the end of this course, participants will:
- Understand Legal and Eligibility Compliance: Apply Section 504 law to define disability and determine student eligibility while upholding procedural safeguards.
- Become Familiar with 504 Process in Project Education: Confidently execute the end-to-end 504 lifecycle—from initial referral to annual reviews—using the DCSD digital platform.
- Identify Complex Scenarios and Best Practices: Recognize how Section 504 intersects with discipline, attendance, behavior and twice-exceptionality (2e) to ensure students receive appropriate, evidence-based support.
- Integrate Within the IMTSS Framework: Align 504 accommodations within integrated multi-tiered systems of support to foster a cohesive, whole-child approach to learning.
