Ended Mar 8, 2024

Full course description

Course Description

  • The day will consist of two sections, morning breakout sessions and afternoon PLC, department, and teacher time. The breakout sessions descriptions are as follows:
    • Teach Like It’s a Party: Engagement Strategies to Spice Things Up! This session will include three strategies you can employ in your classrooms to liven up your lessons and engage students! The three strategies are: Thinking Cubes (Rollin’, Rollin’, Rollin’), Speed Dating, and Strike a Pose. You will leave with ideas on how you might integrate them into your classroom tomorrow
    • Asset-Based Learning Strategies for Multilingual Learners: In collaboration with members of the Language Acquisition department, this session will provide practical classroom instructional strategies to support multilingual learners and promote multilingual learning for all students, including how language changes the way we learn; strategies for using language to bridge content; savvy AI applications; translation applications; and opportunities for cross-curricular connections
    • Developing Curriculum Knowledge Questions: Using strategies of TOK (Theory of Knowledge) participants will practice creating knowledge questions of content from various frameworks (scope, perspective, ethics and methods & tools). From these questions, a class activity can then be generated
    • Extended Essay (EE) Supervisor Training: This training will prepare you for supporting students in the EE process. If you are a new IB teacher or have never supervised EE before this is highly recommended as you will have kids ask you to supervise them in the EE. If you have been supervising for a while and would like a refresher this is your opportunity!
  • Lead Learner (Facilitator): Nicole Stone
