Full course description
Course Description
- In this course, we will explore signposts that help readers notice significant moments in text and the associated text-dependent anchor questions that support readers in taking note and reading more closely. We will begin by focusing on introductory mini-lessons with a gradual-release model, generalizable language, and highlight books to get you started on your journey with signposts. Then we will discuss how to weave this thinking throughout your literacy block—read aloud, strategy groups, book clubs, independent reading, reading response, and even writing. Between weekly Meets participants will practice identifying the signposts in self-selected text while asking themselves the associated questions, and gather resources to share with our learning community.
